In Finland, the tyre recycling system implements the new Waste Act (646/2011) and the connected Government Decree (527/2013) with regard to the collection and recovery of end-of-life tyres. The decree repeals the Government Decision 1246/1995.
The tyre producers must ensure that a quantity of tyres corresponding to a minimum of 95 per cent of the tyres that they bring to the market are reused, recycled or recovered in other ways.
The tyre distributors must accept end-of-life tyres in their sales facilities free of charge, if they correspond to the ones the customer purchases in terms of type and quantity. The stores must also inform consumers of the opportunity to hand over their tyres.
